Isakov
Growing up in Germany as the son of Ukrainian parents, Isakov continually reflected on his roots and heritage, which laid the foundation for his later style. While studying Light Design, Isakov's interest in abstract visual art initiated his first confrontation with architecture and ornamentation.
Alexander Isakov lifts fragments from a wide range of cultures from their original settings and translates them into a new, abstract language that can definitely trigger associations, yet also creates, as it were, a fresh sense of neutrality. This agile way of working acts as a constant throughout his work and, whether it’s his murals found around the world or the canvases he creates in his Berlin studio, it is not constrained by a particular format.
